ITEM NAME| Bow Accent Hair Pin

PACKAGING| The bow accent hair pin was neatly packaged in a clear plastic which was easy to remove.
NEATNESS| The first thing I noticed about the hair pin was that it wasn’t as neat as I expected. I’m no wig expert so maybe I was being unrealistic expecting each strand of hair to be perfectly tucked into the bow shape!
SIZE| The bow was also larger than what the stock photo suggests. Scroll down to have a look at the size of the actual product in comparison to my head! Pretty big, huh?
COLOUR| I purchased the Crushed gamet colour. When it comes to the accuracy of its colouration, the bow was much darker than expected. I think they may have given me a Dark brown hair bow instead. Mixing up colours by accident is always a possibility when purchasing items online! Despite being darker, the bow’s colour reaches the lighter shade of the stock photo under high intensity light such as under the sun or floodlights.
TRYING IT ON|
I wanted to try out this unique hair piece so I decided to include it in my hair style for friend’s pre-wedding kitchen tea.
Using the hair bow with my hair untied looked very funny and out of place, so I situated the hair bow in front of a fanning bun. Very surprisingly, it looked very chic. A lot of people were surprised when I told them the hair style took a grand total of two minutes, and I received a lot of compliments, including a very surprised look from my mother. (And all I did in terms of ‘styling’ is put my hair in a very simple updo!)
At the event, a lot of people thought the hair bow was my real hair. (After spending a few hours with me and a much closer inspection, they realise it’s synthetic and not actually my hair.)
THE VERDICT|
Overall, despite the very positive feedback of my hairstyle above, I am a little disappointed at this purchase. The bow doesn’t look as good without a backdrop of hair as some angles make it look misshapen and unflattering. Also, after just one usage, a lot more loose hairs started to jut of the bow.
That being said, the bow accent hair pin can really spice up a simple bun and immediately puts some cute va va voom to an outfit. I would recommend this product if you have money to spare, but if you’re looking to invest in one good hair bow, I definitely would not recommend this one.
